Intelligence Research Specialist

The duties and responsibilities for a 0132 Intelligence Research Specialist generally include, but are not limited to, the following:
Prior experience supporting multi-agency task force law enforcement investigations, preferably OCDETF investigations. Experience collaborating with different disciplines in a multi-agency environment to prepare all-source intelligence in support of investigations that counter transnational criminal organizations. Execute complex intelligence analysis, monitor, review, and analyze intelligence from multiple sources, including financial sources, and producing actionable intelligence products for law enforcement. Analyze information on target individuals and/or organizations by identifying relevant data sources, and extracting and validating data. Identify and utilize a variety of law enforcement and intelligence databases to monitor and conduct research activities. Mentoring and training on the use of law enforcement and intelligence databases used as sources for generating law enforcement intelligence products. Interpret intelligence and raw data and devise position after assessing diverse source materials, often fragmentary, inconsistent, and unsubstantiated. Perform complex, large-scale projects that generate complicated intelligence research questions and require novel approaches and methodology. Experience producing pro-active financial intelligence products. The duties listed above are generally written for one grade level. If the position is advertised at multiple grades, the duties will be adjusted in difficulty, complexity, and level of supervision, for higher or lower grades, as appropriate. Organizations may also add 'other duties as assigned' once you are hired, based on what is included and allowed by the position description. To qualify for the position of Intelligence Research Specialist at (GS-0132-12/13), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade you're applying to. If you are a current government employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade. applicant must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service performing the following duties:
1) Interpreting and analyzing specialized and sensitive intelligence information from multiple sources, determining and defining the essential elements of information obtained and the most effective method for carrying out data collection; 2) Conducting intelligence program practices and procedures used to manage the case flow of intelligence documents and/or data collected; e.g. guiding analysis of and research of source documents, case files, and other specifics; 3) Planning, developing, and conducting special research studies used for translating intelligence data. To qualify for the GS-13 level:
applicant must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service performing the following duties:
1) Executing difficult strategic intelligence assignments using multiple sources, to include financial sources, requiring collection, analysis, evaluation, interpretation and dissemination of vital intelligence information; 2) Recognizing conditions, trends or influences in foreign and domestic areas which directly or indirectly affect national security; 3) Adept knowledge of procedures in managing intelligence data and maintaining databases to store and process technical or operational drug law enforcement information. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
